Cheesy Garlic Pull Apart Bread is a warm, gooey bread recipe with melted mozzarella and cheddar cheese infused with garlic butter, perfect for sharing as a comforting appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of soft bread (round sourdough or French loaf recommended)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • Italian seasoning (amount not specified, suggest 1 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the loaf of soft bread on a cutting board. Using a sharp bread knife, cut deep crosshatch slices on top of the loaf, being careful not to cut all the way through so the loaf stays intact.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, salt, pepper, chopped parsley (optional), and Italian seasoning. Stir well.
  4. Gently open the cuts on the bread with your fingers. Stuff shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese into each gap, ensuring even distribution.
  5. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over and between the cuts, allowing it to seep into every portion of the bread.
  6. Wrap the prepared loaf snugly in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  8. Carefully unwrap the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes uncovered, allowing the top to become golden, bubbly, and crisp.
  9. Remove from oven and serve warm for pulling apart and enjoying.

Notes

Fresh garlic is recommended over garlic powder for better flavor., Cheese variations are encouraged: provolone, gouda, parmesan, pepper jack, fontina can be used., If bread is tough, warm slightly before slicing and stuffing to ease process., Optional additions include cooked chicken, pepperoni, small diced vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, caramelized onions, or meat such as Italian sausage and bacon bits., To store leftovers, wrap tightly in foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess., Make-ahead option: prepare bread by slicing, stuffing, and pouring garlic butter, then cover and refrigerate overnight before baking., Serving suggestions: pair with tomato soup, chili, fresh green salad, hot coffee, tea, fruit juices, or offer with marinara or ranch dips., Kitchen equipment needed: cutting board, sharp bread knife, mixing bowl, spoon or silicone brush, aluminum foil, baking sheet, oven mitts, serving plate or tray.
